Your Bot Comes Pre-Trained: How Our Starter Kit Sets You Up From Day One
Most AI bots start completely blank. You install them, say hello, and then spend the next hour figuring out where to put your files, how to organize your notes, and what to even ask the thing. We built a different approach: every bot we install comes with a workspace that's already organized, six pre-built workflow templates, and a first conversation that actually goes somewhere.
The blank bot problem
OpenClaw is powerful. But out of the box it's a blank canvas — a capable mind with nowhere to put anything. No folder structure, no conventions, no guidance on how to train it effectively for your specific life or business.
Most people spend their first week either figuring this out through trial and error, or giving up before they get there. The bot ends up saving random files wherever, forgetting context it should remember, and not knowing how you want it to behave.
This is an onboarding problem, not a technology problem. The bot is capable. It just needs structure to work within.
What ships with every install
Every Mechanic Bot install drops a pre-built workspace on your machine with this structure:
├── 01_BRAIN/ # Who your bot is
│ ├── SOUL.md # Personality + values
│ ├── USER.md # About you
│ ├── MEMORY.md # Long-term memory
│ └── memory/ # Daily notes
├── 02_OPS/ # How the bot runs itself
│ ├── sops/ # Workflow playbooks
│ │ └── _seeds/ # Templates ready to activate
│ └── secrets/ # Keys (never committed)
├── 03_BUSINESS/ # Work context
│ ├── clients/
│ ├── suppliers/
│ └── finance/
├── 04_PERSONAL/ # Life stuff
├── 05_REPORTS/ # Bot-generated output
├── 06_ARCHIVE/ # Completed work
└── 07_TEMP_WORKSPACE/ # Scratchpad
Every folder has a README explaining what goes there. The bot knows to put client notes in 03_BUSINESS/clients/, daily summaries in 05_REPORTS/daily/, and temp work in 07_TEMP_WORKSPACE/ before asking where to save it permanently.
Six workflow templates, ready to activate
The 02_OPS/sops/_seeds/ folder contains six pre-built workflow templates. They're not activated by default — the bot runs a short discovery conversation with you first to customize them for your specific situation. But they're ready to go from day one.
📧 Email Triage
Daily inbox sorting, priority flagging, and draft replies in your voice. The bot learns who always needs a fast response and who can wait.
👥 Client Follow-Up
Never let a client go quiet. Tracks where every relationship is and prompts follow-ups at the right time with messages in your tone.
📱 Social Media
Draft content in your brand voice. You provide the raw idea or photo — the bot writes the caption, picks the hashtags, schedules the post.
📦 Inventory Tracking
Know what you have, when to reorder, and who to call. Built around your specific stock and suppliers, not a generic template.
📊 Weekly Recap
A Monday morning summary of what happened, what needs attention, and what's coming up. Delivered to Telegram automatically.
💰 Expense Tracking
Log expenses as they happen, categorized for your business. Tax time becomes a report, not a panic.
How the first conversation works
The first time you message your bot, it doesn't wait for you to figure out what to ask. It introduces itself, offers to run a quick setup, and walks you through what it needs to know — conversationally, not as a form.
By the end of the first conversation, the bot knows your name, what you do, how you like to communicate, and which of the six workflow templates to activate first. It saves everything to your 01_BRAIN/ folder and starts building context from session one.
The templates were designed specifically for small local service businesses — painters, coffee shops, salons, realtors. They're generic enough to work anywhere, but the discovery questions pull out the specifics that make them actually useful for your context.
Personal life, not just business
The 04_PERSONAL/ section is entirely optional — but it's there if you want it. Health goals, home admin, family schedules, personal finances. A bot that only knows your work context is useful. A bot that knows your whole context can actually help you make decisions.
This section stays completely local. It never leaves your machine. That's the point of owning your AI infrastructure.
Why this matters for how fast you get value
Most people who install an AI agent don't get real value from it for weeks — not because the technology isn't capable, but because they spend all that time on setup instead of training and using it.
This starter kit collapses that gap. You install, you have one conversation, and you start getting value the same day. The structure is already there. The templates are loaded. The bot knows what to do when you ask it to handle something.
Your bot, organized from day one.
Every Mechanic Bot install ships with the full starter kit — pre-built workspace, six workflow templates, and a guided first conversation. Mechanic keeps it running.
